Oswestry Unearthed

Have you ever wondered what lays beneath the earth that we walk over each day?

Whether it be playing sports, the commute to work, travelling to school or just walking the dog – the Ground we walk over has seen thousands of years of activity. Oswestry unearthed was born through Chris Langston’s passion for history, metal detecting and Field walking and loves to share his finds that help us learn more about our local history. Working closely with Oswestry Town Museum and Shropshire finds liaison officer we have a huge display of locally dug finds from the stone age to Roman, Viking to Tudor and much more! All of this is free to visit at Oswestry Town Museum.

Hands on history : Preserving local history and brining it to life for children across North Shropshire. Working alongside Oswestry Unearthed and Oswestry town Museum, we plan to set up an interactive mobile museum designed to inspire and educate children of all ages in the wonders of our rich local history. With a range of creative activities linked in to the artefacts on display we hope to spark the imagination of our children and build on their knowledge of history / archaeology in a fun and imaginative way. Have a taster at Oswestry town museum.
